Multiple Sclerosis

Depression, suicidal ideation, and suicide attempts have been reported to occur with increased frequency in patients receiving interferon compounds to treat multiple sclerosis.

Safety and Efficacy (Effectiveness)

 
The safety and efficacy (effectiveness) of treatment with Betaseron ® beyond 3 years is not known.

The safety and efficacy (effectiveness) of Betaseron ® in patients with chronic progressive multiple sclerosis have not been established.

The safety and efficacy (effectiveness) of Betaseron ® in pediatric patients under the age of 18 years have not been evaluated.

It is unknown whether patients over the age of 65 years respond differently to Betaseron ® than younger patients.

It is unknown whether Betaseron ® can affect human reproductive capacity.
